“Friends and I were discussing Valentine's Day in a Facebook chat, where some shared a promotion: if you bought one pair of shoes, you could buy the second one for the price of the first for your partner. The same was true for watches (it seemed to be aimed only at heterosexual couples). I was intrigued and immediately called, openly stating that my partner was a boy and asked if I could take advantage of this promotion. In both cases, I encountered the same situation: I was laughed at, mocked, and they pretended to call the manager to clarify. They explained to me that this was systemic and could not be otherwise.

I recorded all of this and handed it over to the lawyer of the „Equality Movement“ regarding the case. The case dragged on for a long time, lasting about two years. As a result, I received a ruling that the court found these individuals guilty of discriminatory treatment and imposed a fine of 100 lari for moral damages on each of them. Communication with them was only through the lawyer.

I shared the news that I won the court case in a community that promotes freedom, where I also became a victim of criticism. The main argument was that businesses should have the freedom to choose, the entrepreneur's will is free, and they can unilaterally decide whom to sell their products to. I was accused of how I dared to give the state a tool to interfere in business activities. My friends and I were heavily bullied because they insisted that this was not discrimination and that the business sector would act as it pleased.

During that time, I was quite immersed in social activism and seemed to be handling all the blows. When I called, I also expected to be dismissed. I believed it was necessary to confront both the discriminatory and unjust system along with economic oppression. However, the longer the court process lasted, the more I had to work with the lawyer, verify specific issues, and the idea that the business sector could have the right to refuse to sell something based on orientation at any time provoked more and more anger in me.
